There’s something about standing at a bend in a river that feels symbolic. You can see where you are, and you can sense where things are heading, but the full path remains hidden. It’s a pause point. An invitation to slow down before moving forward.
As we start 2026, that feeling is especially relevant.
The world, particularly here in the Caribbean and across South America, has once again become a stage for larger forces competing for influence. It’s loud. It’s unsettled. And it has a way of seeping into everyday life, whether we invite it or not.
In moments like these, I find myself returning, both physically and creatively to landscapes.
For me, landscape photography has never been just about how a place looks. It’s about how it feels to be there. The quiet just before sunrise. The steady rhythm of water moving past rock and earth. The sense of space that allows the mind to relax its grip and slow its pace.
That feeling of being grounded in the present moment.
This image was made in one of those spaces where the land gently guides your eye forward, and the light reveals rather than demands attention. Standing there, nothing needed to be fixed or improved. The gorgeous touches of colour. The dancing ripples of light on the water. The scene simply existed, and in that simplicity, it offered calm.
My work is about capturing those moments and translating them into something tangible. Something that brings depth, stillness, and presence into a living space. Each photograph is created with the intention that it will eventually live beyond the screen, as a physical print on a wall, becoming part of someone’s everyday environment.
I think of these images as quiet companions. Visual pauses. Contemplative portals to peace.
This blog, like my newsletter, is an extension of that intention. From time to time, I’ll share the stories behind specific images, thoughts on choosing and living with fine art photography, and updates on new print releases as they become available.

Thank you for being here, and for taking a moment to slow down with me, right here, just around the bend.
Warm regards,
Andre
